Sanskrit Day– 5th September

Sanskrit Day, also known as Sanskrit Diwas, is a holiday focused around the ancient Indian language of Sanskrit that incorporates lectures about the language and is aimed to promote its revival and maintenance.

Sanskrit has been known as the primary language of Hinduism and helped in the making of several other languages. Sanskrit Diwas is an annual celebration of this beautiful language. Sanskrit Day was first celebrated back in 1969 and is a day full of seminars and events talking about the importance and positive points about Sanskrit that promote the beautiful language. While Sanskrit is widely used in various Puja Vidhi and to praise the Lord with various mantras and shlokas, the idea behind Sanskrit Diwas celebrations was to promote the use of Sanskrit language in our day to day conversations and take it outside the world of worship!
