World Tourism Day– 27th September

Since 1980, the United Nations World Tourism Organization has celebrated World Tourism Day on September 27. The purpose of this day is to raise awareness on the role of tourism within the international community and to demonstrate how it affects social, cultural, political and economic values worldwide.

Over the past six decades, tourism has experienced continued expansion and diversification, and it has become one of the fastest growing and most important economic sectors in the world, benefiting destinations and communities worldwide. The sector represents an estimated 10% of the world’s GDP and 1 in 10 jobs globally. It is estimated that tourism will continue to grow at an average of 3.3% annually until 2030.
